The type of personal information we are likely to collect
We currently collect and process the following:
- information that identifies individuals and contacts (for example, name and contact details)
- details related to your attendance at activities we have organised
- images, video, and audio recordings that identify you, made with your consent
- details related to specific projects or areas of our work that you have been involved in or supported financially or otherwise.
How we get the personal information and why we have it
Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:
- so we can complete the work you have asked us to do
- so we can remind you about or schedule meetings or events
- so we can record your relationship with us in order to fulfil our contractual obligations
- so we can evaluate and monitor our work and ensure we are always learning and providing an effective service
- so we can send you details about what we do or ask you for feedback so we can improve
- so we can inform you about employment and volunteering opportunities at Who is Your Neighbour?
- so we can respond to communication from you to us
- so we can keep you informed about or promote the work of Who is Your Neighbour?
We might also receive personal information from the following sources:
- partners working on the projects we are involved in
- information you submit when joining our mailing list, connecting with us over social media or other platforms.
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:
- your consent (you can remove this at any time by contacting anna@whoisyourneighbour.org.uk or unsubscribing / unfollowing us)
- we have a contractual obligation

- complete the work that put us in touch with you
- send you reminders about or schedule meetings or events
- record your relationship with us in order to fulfil our obligations
- evaluate and monitor our services to ensure we are learning and effective

- keep you informed and promote the work of Who is Your Neighbour?
How we store your personal information
Your information is stored by us on our systems, including cloud-based and local systems. Information stored on third-party platforms (e.g. Mailchimp; Stripe) is also managed by us.
We will ensure we keep personal information only for as long as it is required for the purposes for which the data is collected, e.g. to deliver the work we have agreed to do or for as long as you wish to keep in touch.
Your data protection rights
Under data protection law, you have rights including:
- right of access – you have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information
- right to have inaccurate information rectified – you have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate and to complete information you think is incomplete
You may also have the right to ask us to erase, restrict the processing of, transfer to another organisation / to you or object to the processing of your personal information.
