I recently met with Neil Humphries from Remedi. He is commissioned by Rotherham Council to provide hate crime awareness training.
His work is mainly in secondary schools and colleges, but also works in care homes where staff are experiencing abuse from residents as well as working with people who may receive a caution from the police about a hate crime incident.
He did say he didn’t work much with primary schools yet, however he was starting to see it more at a younger age. He works one to one on this type of intervention as well as with groups.
He only works in Rotherham, but has said he will let us know if there is anything that he thinks we could do off the back of some of his work.
He sent us his training flyer, which I have added, as it is always good to know what is out there!
Rachel.
Thanks Rachel, fascinating that the places he works are care homes and schools. I had thought about the importance of the latter but not the former.
Great post, Rachel. I’ve enabled comments on it – just in case any other members of the team wish or need to comment on it. ~John.
